How To Wash Your PrimaLoft® Gloves
Your Trekmates PrimaLoft® gloves are built for hiking in the peaks or keeping you warm on the commute. They’re designed to keep you warm and comfortable in challenging conditions. While PrimaLoft® is robust regular care is essential to maintain its performance and longevity.
Always check the care label first to ensure the method is suitable.
Washing
- Before washing, shake out your gloves thoroughly to remove any loose dirt or grit from the inside.
- Once clear of debris, place the gloves in a washing machine and wash at 30°C or below using a liquid detergent. Avoid washing at higher temperatures, as this can damage the insulation.
- Do not use fabric softener or bleach. These products break down the fabric structure and significantly reduce the insulating performance of PrimaLoft®.
- After the wash cycle has finished, ensure the gloves are rinsed thoroughly to remove any remaining detergent from the insulation.
Drying
- After washing, dry your gloves either by hanging them with the cuff opening facing down, or by tumble drying on a low heat setting.
- If using a tumble dryer, remove the gloves as soon as the cycle finishes. Do not iron or steam the gloves, as excessive heat will damage the PrimaLoft® insulation.
Reproofing
- Over time, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish on your gloves will naturally wear away. This is normal, but it can reduce how effectively water beads and runs off the fabric.
- Once your gloves are clean and completely dry, simply reapply a suitable DWR treatment. Allow the gloves to dry fully before your next outing to restore water resistance and ensure peak performance.
Your Trekmates PrimaLoft® should now be ready wear out on hill.
